Jaye Ho & members of The Dementia Support Group |
Wednesday, 13 November 2013
From 23.10-20.11.13 supported by The Seedcorn Fund through Sussex Community Foundation, Hastings artist Jaye Ho has been running a series of workshops for members of The Dementia Support Group which meets every Wednesday at The Roomz, Western Road, St Leonards. Their day includes storytelling, music/song, group activities & lunch. Jaye has focused on memory & art, using the groups' experiences of World War II to develop innovative & challenging activities for the members.
During August 2013, Rotterdam artist Stefan Hoffmann worked in St Leonards to produce screen printed window installations for local businesses. He made contact with Gizmo Gaffe, a centre offering creative workshops for disadvantaged & special needs young people. Hoffmann worked for three days with three boys & two girls (12-18yrs) & two volunteers to encourage them to create their own printed window installation at Gizmo. He helped them design their selected images, prepare stencils & print on the windows with his equipment. The young people were very proud of their work & Hoffmann's involvement with them is evidence that the arts can make a positive difference to individual lives. Hoffmann's workshops were supported by The Seedcorn Fund through Sussex Community Foundation.
