Playland : Re-imagining Communities
Tempo Arts is currently working in partnership with James Shea Consulting CIC to deliver an ambitious public engagement project which is linked to the commissioning of artist Jivko Darakchiev's new film referencing landscape & culture of the South Coast of England & the former mining communities in RĂ©gion Hauts-de-France.
Funding has been awarded from the National Lottery through Awards for All.
Starting in October 2016, the partnership will work with diverse groups in Margate, St Leonards, Worthing & Brighton to help create a sense of place, self worth & community cohesion among residents living in deprived areas of the South Coast.
Inspired by local heritage archives, photographs, objects & people's personal stories, cultural practitioners in each area will work with local people to create contemporary stories & models for change. Creativity & heritage will be used to encourage the participants to produce oral, written & visual depictions of their hopes, fears & questions for the future.
